Process heat

We supply geothermal process steam at pressures of 7 to 16 bar, with around 2.8 GJ of thermal energy per tonne of steam.

We also supply process water at a temperature of 170 degC (7 bar), with around 0.7 GJ of thermal energy per tonne of water.

Electricity

We use geothermal process heat and water to continuously generate 21 MW of renewable electricity at our TOPP1 binary-cycle power plant.

Geothermal process steam and water are used to energise a secondary fluid, pentane, that then spins the turbine to generate electricity.

90% less Carbon

Kawerau geothermal process heat emissions intensity is only 0.007 tCO2(eq) per GJ while LNG is at 0.054 tCO2(eq) per GJ.

Abundant Energy

Around 14.8 PJ of geothermal energy produced per year with access to 10.7 PJ of consented geothermal energy to meet additional and future demand.
